It is everyone’s dream to have that perfect looking, skinny, fit, and gorgeously shaped body.  The old fashioned methods for reducing body fat can be quite demanding in terms of the time requirements for exercise and the discipline for dieting.  Over the  years, a process has gained massive popularity for body restructuring because of its promising results and instant solution – liposuction.  Liposuction is the process of taking out unwanted, deposited fats from specific areas of the body.  Places where fatty mass are commonly stored, such as the abdomen, buttocks, hips, thighs, face, and upper arms, are usually the places targeted for liposuction.  These are the areas that many times and for many people do not respond well to exercise and diet.

Why Get LiposuctionThe procedure is basically that of suctioning out fats stored from under the skin of the targeted area. The fats may have been  causing that area of the body to have an undesirable shape.  Liposuction is meant to reshape and contour areas of the body.  First, the doctor marks the area to be treated.  A tube, more commonly known as the cannula, is injected into a small cut in the skin and loosens the fat cells, then a vacuum device attached to the cannula takes out the undesired body fats by suctioning them out.  The suctioned fat is then collected at a flask and disposed of.  To remove the desired fat cells, the tubes are moved around the specific areas of the body that need fat reduction.  Anesthesia, which may be local or general, is used during the process to numb the body part under treatment or to put the patient to sleep throughout the process.  More than one body part can be treated in one session of liposuction.

Liposuction should be conducted with utmost caution when performed on people with heart disorders, diabetes, blood clotting problems, or those who are pregnant.  The medical condition of the patient, to determine whether or not he/she is a good candidate for liposuction, should be confirmed before the procedure.  It is also imperative that the surgery be performed by professional medical practitioners with the appropriate facilities.  You want to have a skilled surgeon with the right tools in order to prevent health risks and unwanted side effects.

The cost of liposuction depends on the area to be treated and how much fat is to be taken out of the body.  After the treatment, the effect is readily observed.  Reducing body fats can trim down the bulging parts of the body and make a body more shaped and firm.  For a week or more, the treated body part should remain well wrapped for healing using a girdle, bandage, or any other restrictive garment to minimize swelling.  The stitches are removed after about 10 days.   Patients should refrain from performing heavy exercise after the process.  It is expected, after removing the fat masses, that the skin will loosen after the treatment.   It will take several weeks for the skin to tighten it up.

Contrary to popular belief, liposuction is recommended for reshaping affected body parts by removing excess fat, but it is not for reducing body weight.  It is not a weight loss procedure, and it is not a cure for obesity.  After the process, body fat can still develop in the body if the patient eats poorly and does not exercise.  In addition, there is a risk of gaining weight after undergoing liposuction because new fats formed in the body will no longer be stored in the same place but may go deeper. The best results are still possible as long as you make the effort to exercise, eat right and lead a healthy lifestyle.
